The La Palina Collection Goldie Laguito No. 2
(Pictured Above) will be getting a line extension
in the form of a Toro

The La Palina Collection Goldie line will be adding a second vitola to this series.  The 1/29/13 Cigar Insider provided details of the La Palina Collection Goldie Laguito No. 5 .  This is a toro size using the same tobacco components as the La Palina Goldie Laguito No. 2.  It was in our 2012 IPCPR cigar conversation with La Palina Cigars’ president Bill Paley where he first mentioned a larger size Goldie would be hitting the market.  The first details of this larger size were first reported by halfwheel.com on 1/23/13.

The La Palina Collection Goldie Laguito No. 2 was our 2012 Cigar of the Year on Cigar Coop.   This was the first release as a part of the La Palina Collection line. The concept behind the La Palina Collection is that it will be a limited annual edition cigar that each year will come out in a different frontmark.  The Goldie Laguito No. 2  was offered in a petite lancero.  As part of the line’s strategy, the cigars are made by a single roller at a single factory.  Once again El Titan de Bronze will be the factory where the Goldie is made and once again the roller will be Maria Sierra.   Sierra is a 95 rated, category 9 roller trained by Fidel Castro’s personal roller Eduardo Rivera Izarri as well as Avelino Lara (Cohiba).

The article mentions plans of 2,500 boxes of ten to be produced of the Goldie Laguito No. 5 – up from the 1,000 boxes originally produced of the Goldie Laguito No. 2.

Plans for the La Palina Collection Goldie Laguito No. 5 to be released in the summer of 2013.
