La Palina Cigars is set to add a third release of its Goldie blend to its La Palina Collection line.  The La Palina Goldie Laguito Especial will add a 7 x 40 lancero vitola.

The Goldie Laguito Especial becomes the third release in the Goldie line. The concept behind the La Palina Collection is that it will be a limited annual edition cigar that each year will come out in a different frontmark.  As part of the line’s strategy, the cigars are made by a single roller at a single factory.  The Laguito Especial marks the third consecutive year of a Goldie release.

The Goldie line was created as a tribute to Goldie Drell Paley, the wife of Sam Paley – who originally founded the La Palina brand back in 1896.   It is meant to be a tribute to the accomplishments of women in the cigar industry.  Once again Miami’s El Titan de Bronze will be the factory where the Goldie is made and once again the roller will be Maria Sierra.   Sierra is a 95 rated, category 9 roller trained by Fidel Castro’s personal roller Eduardo Rivera Izarri as well as Avelino Lara (Cohiba).

Plans are for 2,500 boxes of ten of the La Palina Collection Goldie Laguito Especial to be produced.  There will be two production runs of the Goldie Laguito Especial – late May and October, 2014.

The original La Palina Collection Goldie Laguito No. 2, a petit lancero was the Cigar Coop 2012 Cigar of the Year.  In 2013, a toro size – the La Palina Collection Goldie No. 5 was the Cigar Coop #1 Line Extension for 2013.
