It was about twelve months ago, when Camacho announced their major rebranding effort known as the “Bold Standard”.  While this involved a revamping of the entire core Camacho portfolio, it also introduced the concept of the “Board of the Bold” consisting of brand ambassadors Matt Booth, Mike Ditka, and screenwriter Rob Weiss. Booth and Ditka have had their own cigar brands under the Camacho umbrella with the Room 101 and Ditka collections.  Now it is time for Weiss to have his own brand.  Yesterday, the announcement of BG Meyer Co. was made and will become under collaboration under the Camacho brand. The company also announced its first release, the BG Meyer Standard Issue – which will be a Nicaraguan puro and is expected to start shipping on June 30th.

Weiss is most famous for being the screenwriter for the television series “Entourage”.  The theme for BG Meyer was described in an announcement by the company as “BG Meyer embodies the aspirations of those on the journey to live a legendary life. The breath of a man’s spirit rests in his passion for adventure. A life of merit is not measured by ones accomplishments, but rather the road traveled to get there. The BG Meyer Co. celebrates that legendary journey and the extraordinary men forging their own paths. Embracing the unknown in the search of meaning, excitement, fulfillment. And the freedom they find discovering it.”

“The journey to find success in the entertainment industry is marked by many failures and fewer successes. It’s important to find happiness in the process. The same can be said for the cigar business. I have enjoyed the process of making these, almost as much as I have enjoyed smoking them. In the creation of cigars and stories there are similarities. You want your audience to feel fulfilled and fall in love. Whether it’s with a character who will influence their life, or a cigar that will accompany it,” said Weiss in the company’s announcement.

As mentioned the first release the BG Meyer Standard Issue will be a Nicaraguan puro.  This is the second “Board of the Bold” release under the Camacho umbrella to be a Nicaraguan puro – joining the Room 101 Big Payback.

The announcement of the BG Meyer Co was broken this past weekend on the 6/7/14 Cigar Authority Show.  The show also reported a 4 x 48 cigar in a tin called “Slackers” is being planned.
