Altadis USA has informed retailers of a line extension to its re-introduced Juan Lopez line. The Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 4 will add a 7 x 70 frontmark to the Nicaraguan puro line.  The Seleccion No. 4 is expected to start shipping this May.  It will have an MSRP of $6.75 per cigar.

The Juan Lopez line was made famous in Cuba.  About ten years ago, Atladis USA acquired the U.S. naming rights.  While they launched a line under that name, it was eventually discontinued a few years ago. Last year at the 2013 IPCPR, Atladis USA launched a new blend bearing the Juan Lopez name.

The Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 2 scored a 91 this past September on Cigar Coop.

The first Juan Lopez by Altadis was a box-pressed line of cigars available in five vitolas.  The resurrected Juan Lopez is a rounded vitola.  The cigars in this line are packaged 16 per box.

Note: The Seleccion No. 1 and Seleccion No. 2 share vitola names with its Cuban “cousins”, however these are completely different sizes for the Altadis USA release.
