JM Tobacco has officially launched its latest premium offering, the Havana Preferred.  This was a cigar that had soft launch back in May to select retailers.  It is intended to be a handmade, long-filler bundle cigar offering.  The company describes this cigar as an “almost maduro”.  The cigar is now available nationwide.

In a press release, company president Anto Mahroukian, borrows an adage from the food industry, saying, “We eat with our eyes,” referring to Havana Preferred’s presentation and appearance. “A good chef knows presentation piques the appetite. Likewise, we have focused on a presentation that complements the cigar’s lush appearance. Havana Preferred’s select San Andreas, Mexico, wrapper is extraordinarily appealing … smooth and sleek, a spotless complexion and no prominent veins. When we first saw this tobacco, we recognized it as the finest quality Mexican leaf we’d seen. Although not technically a maduro wrapper, it is naturally dark enough to pass for maduro. The binder is also a true Connecticut-seed broadleaf maduro, giving this cigar an unusually rich depth. Dominican ligero and seco tobaccos comprise the filler.”

In terms of the presentation of the cigars, Mahroukian emphasizes quality and value, “A Ferrari offers superb quality and performance, but is extremely costly. The same quality and performance with a price tag half that of the Ferrari, however, adds one important ingredient … value. Havana Preferred, like all JM cigars, offers top performance and quality, but at very accessible prices. What you get for the price … that’s the definition of value.”

Mahroukian describes Havana Preferred’s performance as “medium bodied, with a slightly sweet taste and hints of chocolate and coffee. The cigar is so smooth, it’s the perfect afternoon smoke, and a great entry-level cigar. And, at less than $5.00 MSRP, it won’t break the pocketbook.”
